PSA218 A Slave or a Son mp3

In this message, we consider Galatians 4 and the matter of slaves and sons. the heir is like a slave, under tutors and governors, until the time he is adopted as the son. So the believing Galatians were now sons through faith in Jesus Christ. Yet they sadly could return to slavery to the sinful things they used to obey. Paul wants them to be like he is, not trusting in the law. They are acting like Paul is now their enemy for telling them the truth about grace! Hagar and Sarah are examples of the children of bondage and of freedom.

PSA217 Submit, Pray, and Walk Wisely mp3

In Colossians 3, Paul discusses the relationship of slaves to masters and how they are to behave. We discuss this in light of employer/employee relationships today. He also urges them to persevere in prayer, praying for Paul and Timothy as well. They are to walk wisely towards those outside the group of believers. Their words should always be spoken with grace. Wise, kind, and informed believers will be most attractive to those outside.

In this message, we consider Hebrews 11 and the heroes of the faith listed there. Our understanding of creation is by faith. Abel, Enoch, and Noah, the examples of faith from the ancient world. Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, and Jacob, the patriarchs, and their faith. We can learn of the faith of these people and seek to copy their example.

The Lord meets them as they go to tell His disciples. What He did and said. The soldiers report to the chief priests, and receive instructions to give out a false report. PSA177 Truth of the Bible from Genesis 1:1 mp3

PSA172 The Mindset of Christ Jesus mp3

In Philippians 2:1-11, we read of the mindset of Christ Jesus when He thought His equality with God not something to be grasped, but instead made Himself of no reputation, took on the form of a slave, and became in the likeness of Adam’s race. Then, He humbled Himself even more to die, and even more to the humiliating death of the cross. The result is that God highly exalted Him, giving Him the name that is above every name: that of God Himself. Paul urges the Philippians then to have the same mindset He did, and to be willing to give up our own pride and our own benefit in obedience and service to God. Are we willing to have the mindset of Christ in this?

PSA171 Going on to Maturity mp3

In this message, we consider Hebrews 6 and the author’s desire to leave the elementary principles of Christ and go on to maturity. The impossibility of renewing those who fall away…what does this mean? He is confident of better things of the Hebrews. God’s oath. Two immutable things: what are they?

What is important about understanding that He is Lord, that He is Jesus, and that He is Christ? How does our overall picture of Him benefit from understanding each of these important names?

PSA169 The Higher Powers mp3

In this message, we consider Romans 13 and the mysterious “higher powers” that Paul talks about in this chapter. Is this talking about our human governments? If so, how can he say the things about them that he says? Is this passage true, or is it simply and embarrassment to every thinking person who loves the Bible? We consider the true meaning of this passage, and who are the “higher powers.”
